The West Quay shopping and retail park in Southampton is being upgraded with contactless payment technology coming to the 900 space car park. West Quay work in partnership with Britannia Parking, who have installed 13 Parkeon terminals in the car parks there.
The contactless payment terminals will take all bank cards as well as Chip and PIN and traditional coin transactions – including the new £1 coins now in circulation. The terminals will also include a 7” colour display screen, which are linked to Parkeon’s Parkfolio central management system, enabling remote monitoring of terminals and detailed analysis of parking and payment data.
A spokesperson for West Quay Retail Park commented:
“Our investment in this technology, particularly with the contactless payment options, will enhance the customer experience at West Quay while also providing new levels of functionality, efficiency and security. The convenience of contactless payment is now part and parcel of daily life, but many people still prefer to use cash, so it was also important that the terminals were future-proofed to accept the new £1 coin which comes into circulation next year.”
